SSP understand that a ‘one size fits all’ approach is not appropriate for the migration of data for insurance companies. That’s why we’ve created SSP Data Services which specialises in the migration of data from 3rd party solutions onto SSP software. The migration practise is able to offer two distinct migration options to any insurer implementing SSP software. A traditional “Big Bang” approach, either phased or as a complete process. Or, as an alternative, a “Just in Time” migration, converting data as it is being processed by the user. (Both options ensure that migration is managed & controlled efficiently & effectively.)

Tradition Migration Approach
The Practice delivers a functionally rich suite of components supported through a best of breed Extract, Transform & Load (ETL) tool to enable the collection of data mappings required by target architectures to achieve successful conversion. The SSP solution has been designed to enable the direct transfer, transformation & derivation of data from one or more source systems to create fully functioning representations of client, policy & policy related data on a target system. This provides standard reconciliation points throughout the conversion process to confirm that all valid converted data has been included, the financial controls in target are all in balance & referential integrity is maintained – in one go.
These features make the solution especially beneficial for organisations consolidating multiple legacy systems & dramatically reduces the time & risk elements associated with this critical phase of system implementation. Phased, from a technology point of view, this is the same as the big bang but is phased by line of business, location or some other logical split.
“Just in Time” (JIT) Migration Approach
The JIT migration approach has been specifically designed for the migration of data from a legacy environment onto SSP’s software solutions. The user interacts with the data through the modern browser interface of SSP’s current solutions. However, the data is actually being read from both the legacy & new solution. If the user/customer/broker then selects to process the data it is extracted from the legacy environment, converted into the target systems data structures & migrated into the target system. All of this is achieved seamlessly to the user of the system. The advantage of this innovative approach is that it removes any downtime in processing & reduces some of the risks associated with a more tradition migration approach.
Migration Ready Software
All SSP software has been designed, & built, to be migration ready. Consideration has been given to provide migration frameworks for each of the main components or areas of the relevant systems. Load processes are regularly benchmarked & tested to ensure that any migration is conducted in the most efficient & effective manner possible.
