The RAC’s journey with SSP

With over 4,000 employees, the RAC operates from three UK bases, offering a range of products and services for drivers. From car insurance and vehicle inspections to RAC Approved Garages and Dealers, we offer complete peace of mind, whatever your driving needs. Best known for breakdown, our expert, local patrols rescue more than 2 million customers every year.

The RAC has been a client of SSP since 2012. Over this time, the platform has suitably evolved to best suit our needs and continues to deliver the capabilities we require from a software provider. The application supports over 400 RAC call-centre colleagues processing in excess of 2 million breakdown policies. RAC has found that the system suitably integrates with our customer integration layers, including call-centre, website and direct sales force.

Over the last 8+ years, the RAC has developed a long-term professional partnership with SSP. The relationships are strong with the SSP teams and employees whom we engage with daily, both from Service and Change perspectives. We have also found that the overall reliability of the platform has improved over time.

The SSP software is an integral part of the RAC’s consumer business, being the Policy Administration Platform which holds our customer and policy details; it has multiple links to other applications and systems within the RAC estate.

SSP have expertise in their field and have provided us with one of our core systems for approaching a decade. Their forthcoming system SSP Broking is also of interest to the RAC, and we look forward to seeing what new capabilities are available through this platform in the future.

The RAC are also members of SSP’s distribution business Keychoice, which enables us to connect with hundreds of high street brokers at once, all of whom can offer their customers more tailored motor cover. It is valuable to be able to use this platform to develop innovative new products through our partnership with SSP.
